Buddsoddiad ychwanegol i gefnogi cyn-filwyr yng Nghymru

Extra investment to support veterans in Wales.

Roedd rhagor o gyllid ar gyfer gwasanaeth iechyd meddwl arbenigol Cymru yn canolbwyntio'n gyfan gwbl ar gyn-filwyr. Fel rhan o becyn cymorth newydd Llywodraeth Cymru o fwy na £500,000 i gyn-filwyr, cafwyd cyllid ychwanegol ar gyfer Swyddogion Cyswllt y Lluoedd Arfog ac ar gyfer canllaw ymaddasu newydd i gefnogi’r rheini sy'n gadael y Lluoedd Arfog.

Mae’r cyllid hwn yn cynnwys:

  • £235,000 arall y flwyddyn i ariannu Gwasanaeth Iechyd Gwladol Cymru i Gyn-filwyr o 2021/22 ymlaen
  • £275,000 y flwyddyn i ariannu Swyddogion Cyswllt y Lluoedd Arfog ledled Cymru tan 2023
  • £50,000 i hyfforddi'r sawl sy’n gweithio yn y maes prostheteg yng Nghymru mewn technolegau newydd
  • £120,000 i gefnogi elusennau milwrol i fynd i'r afael ag unigrwydd ac ynysigrwydd cymdeithasol
  • £250,000 i gefnogi plant y Lluoedd Arfog

Mae’r cyllid sydd wedi’i neilltuo gan y Llywodraeth ar gyfer Gwasanaeth Iechyd Gwladol Cymru i Gyn-filwyr, sydd bellach yn £920,000 y flwyddyn, yn gynnydd o 35%. Yn ogystal â chreu swyddi Arweinwyr Clinigol Hynod Arbenigol a fydd yn arbenigo mewn gofal i gyn-filwyr yn y gwasanaeth, mae'r cyllid blynyddol ychwanegol ar gyfer 2021/22 hefyd yn cynnal y ddarpariaeth therapi a gefnogwyd cyn hyn leded Cymru am y 3 blynedd diwethaf gan yr elusen Help for Heroes.

Dywedodd Eluned Morgan, y Gweinidog Iechyd Meddwl, Llesiant a'r Gymraeg:

"Gwasanaeth GIG Cymru i Gyn-filwyr yw'r unig wasanaeth cenedlaethol o'i fath yn y DU ar gyfer cyflyrau iechyd meddwl sy'n gysylltiedig â gwasanaethu yn y Lluoedd Arfog. Mae'n cefnogi therapyddion penodedig ym mhob bwrdd iechyd i wella iechyd meddwl a llesiant cyn-filwyr. Gall cyn-filwyr gyfeirio eu hunain at y gwasanaeth a byddan nhw’n cael cymorth gan therapydd sydd â phrofiad penodol o faterion iechyd meddwl sy'n gysylltiedig â gwasanaethu yn y Lluoedd Arfog.

"Rydyn ni wedi ymrwymo i gefnogi'r gwasanaeth hynod werthfawr hwn sydd o fudd i gyn-filwyr o bob oed a chefndir ym mhob rhan o Gymru."

Dywedodd Hannah Blythyn, y Dirprwy Weinidog Tai a Llywodraeth Leol:

"Yn ystod y flwyddyn ddiwethaf, rydyn ni wedi darparu Cerdyn Rheilffordd i Gyn-filwyr yng Nghymru. Mae Llywodraeth Cymru hefyd wedi ymuno â'r fenter Gweithle Gwych i Gyn-filwyr, gan roi gwarant o gyfweliad i gyn-filwyr sy'n bodloni manylebau swyddi sylfaenol pan fyddan nhw’n gwneud cais i ymuno â'r gwasanaeth sifil.

"Rydyn ni’n gwybod bod gan gyn-filwyr amrywiaeth hynod werthfawr o sgiliau i’w cyfrannu at ein gweithleoedd a'n cymunedau. Mae'r pecyn hwn o gyllid a chymorth yn canolbwyntio ar eu helpu nhw i ffynnu. Fodd bynnag, yn ystod y pandemig rydyn ni wedi gweld cynnydd yn nifer yr unigolion sy’n teimlo’n unig ac yn ynysig ac mae hyn wedi bod yn her. Rydw i’n falch iawn bod cyllid Llywodraeth Cymru wedi helpu i fynd i'r afael â hyn ar gyfer cyn-filwyr ledled Cymru."

Mae BLESMA, yr elusen filwrol ar gyfer cyn-filwyr sydd wedi colli coesau neu freichiau, VC Gallery yn Hwlffordd, a Chanolfan Gofalwyr Pen-y-bont ar Ogwr ymhlith yr elusennau sydd wedi gweithio i helpu cyn-filwyr yng Nghymru sydd wedi bod yn teimlo’n unig neu’n ynysig dros y flwyddyn ddiwethaf.

Cyn y pandemig, cynhaliodd BLESMA brydau bwyd ochr yn ochr â sesiynau hyfforddi digidol. Yn ystod y pandemig, gwnaed trefniadau er mwyn cynnal eu clwb llyfrau ar-lein.

Darparodd Canolfan Gofalwyr Pen-y-bont ar Ogwr gardiau SIM a chyfrifiaduron llechen i gyn-filwyr a oedd yn teimlo’n ynysig a'u helpu i fynd ar-lein. Cafodd sesiynau Tai Chi a myfyrio eu cynnal ganddynt hefyd.

Cefnogodd VC Gallery yn Hwlffordd gyn-filwyr hŷn i ennill sgiliau digidol ac i fynd ar-lein yn ystod y pandemig, a chysylltwyd yn rheolaidd â hwy drwy alwad ffôn. Cafodd clybiau celf ddigidol a pharseli bwyd a gwiriadau llesiant eu cynnig hefyd i’w haelodau mwyaf agored i niwed.

This support package follows a Welsh Government scoping exercise that heard from over 1,000 veterans, families and organisations. In response to the feedback from the Armed forces community in Wales, the Welsh Government has been delivering wide range of support focused on mental health, children, support for amputees and tackling loneliness and social isolation during the pandemic.

Blesma Member, Roy, from Aberdare

“I am attending a Blesma dinner helped by funding from the Welsh Government. I am completing this Blesma Members feedback survey and I have

too many comments to cram in here.  Blesma has helped me and my wife Diane in so many ways we can hardly thank Tom and Jason enough.   They have really helped my wellbeing during a critical time and helped me to attend various activities with Blesma over the past year, including a Seniors Week and a trip to Normandy.  Tom is also helping with my prosthetics needs and helped me get access to a micro-processor knee.  The Blesma Wales team has made a significant and positive impact on mine and my wife’s life. Just knowing that you are part of a wider family, with the help and support on offer is fantastic.  I now feel less isolated and enjoy getting together with others who struggle like me.  I can talk to them and find out their story, and we can swap advice about our own issues.”

Roy’s wife Diane: “My life is quite stressful.  Part of this is caused by the constant worry about my husband [amputee and advancing in age] and wanting him to be here and to have a good quality of life.  We had to move to back Wales to look after my elderly mother, and we were taken away from friends and family.  My husband gets so lonely and having events such as the Blesma dinners and brunches are a wonderful way of making us feel included.  It’s such a treat for Roy

and to enjoy the company of others.  It also helps me to relax too!”

From Bridgend Carers Centre:

“I wanted to say that my Dad has really got going with his tablet – it has

been of huge benefit to him during the lockdown – he is reading the papers every day and searching for things on the internet that he is interested in.

Sadly, he became very ill last week and was admitted to hospital. It is not Covid 19, thankfully, but there is so much risk attached to hospital admission,I am very scared for him. However, I took his tablet to the hospital and he is using it there too, although has ‘done something’ he can’t fix, so I am taking my son with me this afternoon so that hopefully the ward staff will bring the tablet to us so that our combined brains can sort out whatever has ‘glitched.’

The staff are very helpful but it is intensely frustrating not being able to see Dad. We have installed Skype on the tablet so I hope we can somehow get him using that so we can communicate better.

Anyway – we are very pleased that you gave him the tablet as it is really

helping him whilst in hospital and is very helpful in keeping him occupied

generally at this awful time. If anyone needs to know how successful your project has been – please feel free to quote this email. The tablet has given my Dad a completely new lease of life at the age of 89 and supported him through what is a very challenging time for us all.
